Apartment Information

Buenos Aires art deco y racionalismo book cover

The Viamonte Mansion Apartment was built in 1928 by Architects Calvo, Jacobs y Gimenez. This team was also responsible for the design of many famous sturctures in Buenos Aires, including the Shell Building on Diagonal Norte and the Hotel Sofitel in Recoleta as well as the Jockey Club. We are proud to say that the Viamonte is pictured on page 30 of the beautful book on Buenos Aires Art Deco y Racionalismo.
It has a interesting past, incuding a story that includes Evita Peron’s body being kept in one of the apartments between her death and the funeral.

The style of the building is described as Gothic Art Deco and has many lush details including beautiful deco brass embellishments that are polished daily by the “portero” (doorman) and balconies on the front of the edifice.

The kitchen was newly done in vintage style, utilizing the original tiled walls and adding to them with tile and terrazo details. Modern electric equipment has been added, but the
period styling has been retained and enhanced with a custom made breakfast table and display cabinets.
