Dear Laurie and Rick; The Viamonte condo was even better in person. Absolutely stunning, yet very roomy and comfortable. We spent a a good deal of time in the condo, just relaxing, going over our itinerary, and listening to the iPod mix over the speakers. Having the wifi was a great bonus. Having cell phones available for our use, was beyond our expectations and much appreciated. We really appreciate your intro to Flavio. He certainly helped us a lot and is a great guy. The location is great. We walked to Puerto Madero for late dinners and Carolyn and I spent a lot of time hiking and birding at Costanera de Sur. We met some local birders, as well as foreign tourists on the paths through the nature reserve, who were very helpful in identifying the birds. Having the beautiful Galleria Pacifica shopping mall so close was convenient, and the selection of stores extensive. The pop up restaurant we went to was really a treat. In fact we had really great meals everywhere we dined. Taxi drivers were helpful, and their rates reasonable. High tea at the Alvear Palace Hotel was a lot of fun, and we felt very pampered by the wait staff. We did a lot of walking in the Retiro, Recoleta and Palermo Soho districts, and always felt safe. Pedestrians were helpful with directions. All of the museums we visited were very interesting, and we appreciated being introduced to artists of South America, both contemporary and traditional, that were new to us. We enjoyed our day of relaxation, as well as a delicious lunch, on our cruise of the Parana Delta, and the Tigre River. We also had success in finding some great items to buy for gifts for friends and family, as well as for ourselves. One of the highlights of our trip was our day at the Feria San Telmo. The variety of vendors and the festive atmosphere of music and dance in the streets, made our afternoon there both exciting and productive. We also enjoyed shopped at Sylvia and Mario’s, a leather store in the Retiro district, and had a tour of the design area upstairs by the owner, Sylvia Chacron. The coats and wallets we purchased there were of very high quality, and a wonderful value for the price. Thank you for all that you did to help make our stay at your lovely Viamonte condo, and our visit to Buenos Aires both enjoyable and successful. Viamonte Apartment 6B was exactly as advertised and better! A very friendly and helpful doorman greeted us as we entered the building and took our luggage up to the apartment. We opened the door and walked into an Art Deco retreat so beautifully appointed with period antiques that it made us feel as we were in Paris during the 1920’s. The pictures on the website don’t do the place justice. It is a Modernistic setting right down to the furnishings, artwork, accessories and architectural finishes and details. The amenities however, are all 21st century complete with air conditioning, a good Internet connection and state-of-the-art stereo and video equipment. The bathrooms and kitchen are updated and well equipped. Since this an older building we were surprised how spacious and quiet the apartment is. We shared it with another couple and never felt cramped or in each other’s way. The bedrooms are a good size with plenty of closet space and comfortable mattresses – we slept like logs! Outside, we found a bustling city neighborhood with interesting shops, quaint cafes and coffee houses all within a few minutes walk. The location is ideally situated and a great base for exploring. Although cabs are plentiful (and really cheap), we walked almost everywhere. Owners, Laurie and Rick gave us some excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do and see and were very accommodating. One of the highlights of our day was coming back to the beautiful apartment Viamonte after an exciting, but tiring day of site seeing. It is a great place to relax, kick off your shoes and enjoy a bottle of Argentinean Malbac with your friends as you try to decide which restaurant to have dinner at! We would definitely recommend this apartment to other travelers. For those looking for an affordable and unique option to a hotel, we can’t imagine a better place to stay in BA. I spent three weeks in Rick and Laurie’s gorgeous art deco apartment. They were a pleasure to deal with and supplied all the references you need for a great time in Buenos Aires, both before hand and in their wonderful ‘black book’ in the apartment. Everyone was expecting my arrival. The porters were gracious and helped with my bags. The apartment was spotless and filled with flowers by the house keeper. Every detail in the apartment is wonderful art deco, including the covers on the air conditioners! The bathrooms and kitchen were stocked with everything you could need. I cook a lot and the cooking utensils, pots and pans, microwave, toaster, dishes and silverware were all both utilitarian and lovely. There are excellent fruit and vegetable stores and a superb butcher a few block away… The apartment is a half a block from Florida…an upscale shopping street during the day and an outdoor street market with tango at night. The area has excellent shops and restaurants. A lot can be seen by walking, but cabs are cheap. Buenos Aires has multiple excellent museums, several with great cafes…….Took a Saturday day trip to a ‘Gaucho Festival’ at a polo estancia. I loved it, and it was well worth the cost. If you want to be in wonderful surroundings and have a great trip to Buenos Aires, I recommend this apartment as the way to do it ! Marina A. Philadelphia, PA

Like the song, our trip to Buenos Aires was “Unforgettable.” The opportunity of spending a week at the Viamonte Mansion exceeded our expectations. All the special touches including the doorman, enhanced the experience. The Apartment was like being at home, but in a foreign country. We were impressed by the amenities, including the comfortable bedding, the cleanliness, the waterfall showers and most of all, the privacy. We felt right at home and made ourselves very comfortable, even experiencing the warmth of the fireplace, as we toasted our champagne glasses. Everything was there in its place down to the last detail. The Old world charm with the modern touches, left us with the desire to get back to Argentina soon, to see much more of South America, and relive the memorable experiences and explore further.
